Tretyakov Gallery’s major paintings include “Ivan the Terrible Killing His Son” (Ilya Repin), “The Girl with Peaches” (Valentin Serov), “Morning in a Pine Forest” (Ivan Shishkin), “The Rooks Have Returned” (Alexei Savrasov), and “Ivan-Tsarevich on the Grey Wolf” (Viktor Vasnetsov).

Pushkin Museum
The Pushkin Museum is famous for having one of the largest collections of Western art in Russia. Its collection is made up of 670,000 exhibits, including casts of ancient statues and items from Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece.

Bolshoi Theater
One of the world’s most important opera and ballet theaters. The Bolshoi Theatre, Russia’s main national theater, has hosted world premieres of operas by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev. It covers 80,000 square meters — just imagine the size and scale!

Chekhov Moscow Art Theater
Chekhov Moscow Art Theater
One of the most famous theaters in Russia, it’s known for its classical productions. Here leading theater artists perform and world-class directors work on the repertoire. The Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre does not recognize any limitations in terms of genres and formats: in its repertoire, you will find both serious dramaturgical productions and sparkling comedies, classics and modern hits, musical performances and mono-performances.
Bonus: set aside some time to admire the theater building itself. It’s a true masterpiece of Art Nouveau architecture, listed as a cultural site of federal significance.

Museum of Russian Impressionism
Museum of Russian Impressionism
This museum displays works by Russian artists of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. But you will already be entranced as you approach the museum and see a brick building wrapped in shiny metal with a glass parallelepiped on the roof.
Inside, you can see artistic masterpieces, and inspire yourself and children to learn more about art — the Museum of Russian Impressionism hosts many creative tours, lectures and masterclasses, including for young guests.
The permanent exhibition includes paintings by Korovin, Serov, Zhukovsky, Grabar and Yuon. The Parisian Musée d’Orsay and the Pompidou Centre have taken part in temporary exhibitions put on by the museum.

Tchaikovsky Concert Hall
The Concert Hall of the Moscow State Academic Philharmonic Society, opened in 1940, will amaze you even before you step inside. The Hall building is a masterpiece of Soviet architecture, made in the Stalinist Empire style.
Come here to enjoy classical music concerts performed by the best orchestras and conductors. True music lovers will also appreciate other events that regularly take place in the Hall — from music festivals and academic music concerts to chamber poetry evenings and performances. In total, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall hosts about 300 events a year — you’ll definitely have plenty to choose from!
