Moscow is often called the coffee capital – and with good reason. Wherever you go, you’ll find speciality brews, beans from all corners of the world, and plenty of local roasters who know their craft inside out.
OMG coffee
A charming café in the heart of the city — right on Kuznetsky Most — with a dozen desserts, a generous range of pastries, and a seasonal menu that keeps changing. Here you’ll find cube-croissants filled with cream and berries, all-day breakfasts, and coffee drinks that look more like cakes, topped with whipped cream and a sprinkle of something fragrant. And yes, the photos you take here are pure eye candy.

Skuratov Coffee
These roasters from Omsk have brought their own flavour of coffee culture to Moscow. Their cafés open bright and early at 6:55 a.m., and by midday most of the tables are full of people tapping away on laptops. With more than ten branches across the city, you’ll always find a well-brewed cup and fresh pastries, and the beans are well worth buying for yourself or as a gift.
Flight Coffee
If you like the aviation theme, don’t miss this café where receipts look like boarding passes and signature drinks are inspired by travel. The menu is divided into four “routes”: Asia, Europe, the East and Russia. You might discover coffee with halva, Vietnamese tea, a Belgian flat white, or the intriguingly named “Siberian Express”. Of course, you’ll also find the classics – americano, raf – but isn’t it more fun to try something new?

AAARK
Tucked away near Pokrovka and Chistoprudny Boulevard, AAARK is a bold yet welcoming café with a minimalist interior of dark wood and white tiles. It’s perfect for an early start: speciality coffee from Fauno roasters, freshly baked focaccia, and generous sandwiches. Look out for Italian maritozzi and Swedish cardamom buns — rare finds in Moscow. The atmosphere is creative and friendly, with a big red lacquered table at the heart of the space and a proudly dog-friendly vibe.

Rockets Coffee
Another chain run by roasters, with each location offering a slightly different concept. There’s the multi-purpose Rockets Concept Store, perfect for grabbing lunch or working remotely, as well as smaller Cappuccino Kids outlets for coffee on the go. We recommend the Concept Store for its striking interiors and tempting baked goods. And don’t leave without checking their excellent selection of beans.

Surf Coffee
Perhaps the most popular coffee chain not just in Moscow, but across Russia. Every branch has its own design, and menus often vary by location, so there’s always something new. Expect creative seasonal drinks alongside classic black coffee and plenty of plant-based milk options. The vibe is warm and welcoming, and if you happen to stop by one of the cafés outside the city centre, you’ll often find locals dropping in with their dogs for a morning coffee.

Aeroplan
Not yet a big chain, but already two branches have opened in Moscow, both inspired by the idea of flight. One is by the Moscow River on Bolotny Island (Aeroplan Blue), the other is on Pyatnitskaya Street near Dobryninskaya metro (Aeroplan Green). Both are cosy and welcoming, with a wide choice of drinks and desserts. Fans of black coffee should try the hand-brewed options, while lovers of milky drinks will enjoy the gentle cortado. There are also breakfasts and heartier dishes on the menu.

This well-known coffee chain has locations all over Moscow — from Kutuzovsky Prospekt and Belaya Ploshchad to spots by the Conservatory and inside the Neglinnaya shopping mall. It’s a reliable choice for a long, quiet coffee break, with an extensive menu of coffee and tea drinks, full breakfasts, hot meals, and a tempting array of desserts. Around the holidays, the cafés are especially popular for their creative themed sweets that change with the season.

Coffee Eleven
This café is set in the historic Khudozhestvenny cinema, which first opened more than a century ago. You don’t need to watch a film to enjoy the atmosphere; you can sip a good coffee with a pastry or settle into a comfy armchair with a book and spend half the day watching the seasons change outside. The menu offers signature drinks, plenty of matcha, cocktails and wine, as well as excellent food: bagels, sweet and savoury croissants, breakfasts and desserts.

A well-known speciality chain with an impressive menu. Coffee purists can enjoy black brews prepared using alternative methods such as Chemex or Aeropress, while adventurous drinkers might be tempted by a latte flavoured with palo santo syrup or tonka beans. As ABC are roasters themselves, their beans make an excellent souvenir to take home.

Mama Varit Kofe (“Mum Makes Coffee”)
These roasters from Ufa have opened more than ten branches in their hometown and are now winning over Moscow. Their spacious cafés combine a large bar counter, cosy tables for relaxing, and separate work zones buzzing with laptops, much like Skuratov. The drinks list includes filter brews, cocoa, matcha, teas, lemonades, and house specials.

Just steps from Teatralnaya Square, Niqa brings a slice of Paris to central Moscow. The patisserie offers elegant desserts, fresh pastries, soups, and salads, paired with Dammann teas from France and speciality coffee.
