Gusi-Lebedi

A cosy restaurant that feels like a Russian dacha, located in Izmailovo. It’s easy to combine breakfast here with a visit to the Tsar’s Izmailovo Estate or the Izmailovo Kremlin. The concept is a modern twist on Russian cuisine. As part of the festival, they’ve prepared a special hearty ‘Russian Breakfast’: fried eggs with kupaty (sausages), crispy fried baby potatoes, crunchy Borodino toast with garlic, and sweet-and-sour satsebeli sauce, plus homemade pickles. Sounds more like lunch? Maybe — but we promise you’ll stay full for hours after this breakfast. If you fancy something lighter, try some semolina — a classic that every child in Russia and the USSR grew up on. Also worth attention: the syrniki (cheese pancakes) or fresh cottage cheese with berries.

A stylish restaurant right in the centre of Moscow — ideal to pop into after visiting the Kremlin or strolling along the Arbat. The special Moscow Breakfast menu includes a chef’s special breakfast: fried eggs, doktorskaya (boiled) sausage, bacon, tomato, green peas, feta cheese, and toast. You can also try the porridge with baked apple and salted caramel, grain cottage cheese with homemade sour cream, or signature syrniki with berry sauce. A unique gastronomic experience: millet porridge with fresh berries and aloe honey.

Syrovarnya at Depo

The vast Depo gastro-market on Lesnaya Street is a must for foodie travellers — same goes for the Syrovarnya restaurant chain. Everything here revolves around top-quality dairy products. On the seasonal Moscow Breakfast menu: perfect ricotta syrniki with sour cream and jam, courgette fritters with stracciatella, and porridge. Those who prefer a hearty breakfast can enjoy green buckwheat with chicken and sun-dried tomatoes, or an omelette/fried eggs with Tambov ham. You can also solve the great riddle of Russian cuisine: what are ‘lazy vareniki’ and how are they different from regular vareniki (similar to pierogies)? Try them — and find out!

Seriy

This restaurant is on Bolshaya Gruzinskaya Street — you can stop by after visiting the zoo, to rest and share your impressions with your friends or family. Their special offer — the Moscow Breakfast — is a closed fried egg made from three eggs with sun-dried tomatoes, three mini-toasts of Borodino bread with lightly salted salmon, and red caviar. Tasty, a touch luxurious, and very Russian!

Address: Bolshaya Gruzinskaya Street, 37с2

Zori

A small cosy cafe near Ulitsa 1905 Goda metro station. Those wanting a heartier breakfast will love the potato pancakes with salmon, while those after something lighter and sweeter should try the signature syrniki with sour cream and berries. Wash it down with green tea with honey and aloe — it’s as invigorating as coffee, we promise!

Hermitage

A truly luxurious restaurant on the banks of the Khimki Reservoir. For breakfast, we recommend ordering the special set for two: it includes traditional Russian ‘lace’ blini with jam, sour cream, or honey, as well as bacon and eggs, roast beef bruschetta, and freshly squeezed orange juice.

Address: Vishnyovaya Street, 13

Signature Art

Signature Art is a place for connoisseurs of beauty: it’s not just a restaurant but also an art exhibition. Bonus — its location on Kotelnicheskaya Embankment, where you can admire the famous high-rise and views of the Moscow River. The signature breakfast here is a work of art too: a salad mix with tomatoes and avocado guacamole, two soft-boiled eggs, Brie cheese, and roasted pepper (you can add salmon, prawns, or mortadella!). Another equally lavish option: a giant blin with dry-cured duck, raspberry sauce, pistachios, and a salad mix. And, of course, you can also try the syrniki.
