New ruID app for foreign visitors
How to prepare for your trip to Russia under the updated travel regulations
Starting June 30, 2025, all visa-free foreign visitors to Russia can register their trip in advance using the ruID mobile app (AppStore, Google Play). While the procedure is optional, it provides key benefits — such as access to local SIM cards and services, and early confirmation that your entry to Russia is not restricted.
Travelers need to submit details via the ruID mobile app. The process includes travel information:
- purpose,
- dates,
- regions visited,
- biometric data: a photo, document scan, and voice recording.
Without this, entry will not be granted.
Key deadlines:
- You must enter Russia within 90 days after submitting your application.
- Applications or changes must be made at least 72 hours before arrival.
- In urgent cases (medical emergencies, family illness or death), you can apply up to 4 hours before crossing the border — with documents to confirm the reason.
Visa-required travelers should apply for a visa through the usual process.
