Russian Museum masterpieces in Moscow
From September 6, VDNH presents The Image of Moscow in Russian Art with 100+ works from the State Russian Museum.
On September 6, the exhibition The Image of Moscow in Russian Art opens at the Central Pavilion No. 1 at VDNH. Masterpieces from the State Russian Museum (Saint-Petersburg) will be shown at VDNH for the first time, bringing more than 100 works to Moscow until February 1, 2026.
The display includes over 100 works — 104 paintings and 11 sculptures — by artists such as Andrei Rublev, Ilya Repin, Vasily Surikov, Mikhail Nesterov, Apollinary Vasnetsov, Valentin Serov, Yuri Pimenov, Ivan Shishkin, and others. Many of these works rarely leave St. Petersburg.
The exhibition is divided into four sections — Old Moscow, The Capital, New Moscow, and Muscovites — showing the city’s history through different eras.
Visitors can also glimpse digital features that use augmented reality to bring several works to life, offering a new way to experience Russian art.
The exhibition runs until February 1, 2026, giving visitors a rare chance to explore Moscow’s image in Russian art across the centuries.
