Exploring Moscow’s Historic Estates This Winter

The festival’s main stage unfolds in the atmospheric Kolomenskoe Museum-Reserve, where Moscow’s aristocratic traditions come to life. For three months, visitors of all ages can enjoy free daily activities, including:

• Vintage Costume Photo Zone,
• Weekend street theatre,
• Historical games,
• Hands-on workshops.

Inspired by the everyday life of noble families, Kolomenskoe recreates scenes of 18th- and 19th-century estate culture. Guests can try mazurka dance workshops, join promenade-style walks, observe theatrical sketches performed by actors in historical dress, and even meet characters from Russia’s past.

Outside, a traditional Russian samovar on sled runners becomes the centre of the beloved Moscow Tea Time, inviting visitors to warm up with aromatic brews. At the estate post station, festival postcards decorated with illustrations of Moscow’s estates can be written and collected — a charming seasonal ritual.
