Chinese New Year Festival comes to Moscow
Artists from China, traditional performances, and festive events in Moscow

Moscow will host the international festival “Chinese New Year in Moscow” for the third time, celebrating the Lunar New Year with a large cultural programme. The festival will run from 16 February to 1 March and is organised by the Moscow Government with the support of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Russia.
More than 100 performers will arrive in Moscow from Beijing and the Chinese provinces of Guangdong, Hainan, Henan, Inner Mongolia, and Zhejiang. Guests will present Chinese opera, folk dances, acrobatics, martial arts performances, and hands-on workshops.
The main festival venues will be Manezhnaya Square and the pedestrian passage leading to Revolution Square. On Manezhnaya Square, visitors will find a special festival post office, where they can send themed postcards from Moscow to China.
In the passage between Manezhnaya Square and Revolution Square, guests can tie wish ribbons on a stylised Moscow–Beijing express installation. Festival events will also take place at Bolotnaya Square, the Moscow Zoo, the MosKino Film Park, the Central Children’s Store, food hubs, cultural venues, and hotels across the city.

The festival’s symbol this year is the red fire horse — Jixiangma — inspired by a bronze figurine from the Eastern Han dynasty. Under its sign, Moscow invites residents and visitors to experience Chinese traditions, performances, and festive customs in the heart of the city.
